Premcar turns 30 in 2026. To celebrate, we’re sharing some of our experience. To kick off, let’s talk about partnerships.
There’s a great scene in the HBO TV series ‘Game of Thrones’.
Robert Baratheon, the King of the Seven Kingdoms, asks Queen Cersei Lannister a simple question.
“Which is the bigger number? Five, or one?”
Cersei, of course, says, “Five.”
Then comes the interesting bit.
Robert raises his left hand to show five fingers and says, “Five.”
He then raises his right hand in a fist and says, “One.”
It’s a terrific insight. It explains why some partnerships work and many don’t.
Carmaking requires strong partnerships.
We have many of them, and after 30 years I can tell you what makes them work:
Unity.
In all of our partnerships, we want the same (or similar) things as our partners.
Everyone involved knows we need each other to achieve them.
Carefully managing this interdependence makes our partnerships successful.
Get it wrong and you have two passengers waiting for things to happen.
Get it right, however, and you get two drivers operating as one, doubling the speed at which they achieve results.
That’s partnership at its best.
